Techiman
Techiman is a major commercial and agricultural town and the capital of Ghana’s Bono East Region. The Techiman Municipality recorded a population of 243,335 in the 2021 Population and Housing Census, comprising 118,699 males and 124,636 females. The local economy is driven mainly by agriculture, wholesale and retail trade, transportation and agro-processing. Techiman is widely known for its large agricultural market, where crops such as maize, yam, cassava, plantain, vegetables and legumes are traded. Its strategic location also makes it an important distribution centre linking southern Ghana with the northern regions and neighbouring Sahel countries.
Kejetia Market, Kumasi
Kejetia Market, also known as Kumasi Central Market, is a huge and bustling marketplace in the heart of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. It’s widely regarded as one of the largest open-air markets in West Africa, with thousands of stalls and shops where traders sell a vast range of goods — from textiles like kente cloth, crafts, foodstuffs, clothing, electronics, spices, to everyday household items. Ejura
Ejura is a major agricultural and commercial town in the northern part of Ghana’s Ashanti Region and serves as the capital of the Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality. The municipality recorded a population of 137,672 in Ghana’s 2021 Population and Housing Census, comprising 68,551 males and 69,121 females. Ejura’s economy is dominated by farming, produce trading and agricultural services. It is one of Ghana’s leading maize-producing areas and is often described as a food basket of the Ashanti Region. Other important crops include yam, rice, beans, groundnuts, cassava, cowpea and plantain. The town also functions as a major market centre where farmers, wholesalers, transporters and retailers trade agricultural produce and consumer goods.
